Many people like to know a little about the company behind the products they buy, so we'll use this page to provide more information about our business philosophy, history, and employees.

COMPANY HISTORY

Shiels Jewellers was founded in 1945 by Jack Shiels. Upon his death, his widow sold their one store in the Central Market Arcade to Albert and Nyra Bensimon, the current directors, in 1977. The company turnover was about $100,000 per year at this time.

The store originally sold jewellery, giftware and silverplated merchandise. The stock was quickly changed over to precious jewellery, gold and silver, and the gift lines dropped.

Albert and Nyra Bensimon had a vision to open up stores in all major regional shopping centers in the Adelaide precinct. Shiels is devoted to giving the public good value merchandise at discounted prices. The Bensimon family feel confident that they have achieved their goal in placing Shiels where they want the the company to be.

Shiels has remained faithful to South Australia and we are still growing within the state with a total of ten stores to date.
